A dawn-to-dusk bandh was observed here on Wednesday by the local lawyers demanding relocation of the Athagarh Sub Jail. It was total.
Almost all the business firms, banks, schools, colleges and Government offices were closed supporting the cause. Vehicular traffic was paralysed with the local Bus Owners’ Association extending its support to the cause. The lawyers were seen picketing at different locations of Athagarh.
ATBN Bar Association president Fani Bhusan Ratha and Athagarh Bar Association president Jagadananda Tripathy thanked the people of Athagarh for their overwhelming support.
The lawyers sent a memorandum to the Governor through the Sub-Collector in this regard.
