The Nimapara Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court on Monday remanded the couple, accused in the quadruple murder of retired DI of Schools Dinabandhu Mallick, his wife and two daughters at Dinadiyan village of Astarang block in Puri district, to the Nimapara Sub-Jail.

The Crime Branch police had produced Himadri alias Rahim Khan and his wife Ayesha in the court a day before their six-day remand ended. The investigating agency did not apply for fresh remand.

Meanwhile, Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma said the investigating agency has collected all the facts and evidences against the arrested couple who had sold out the ornaments they had collected from Dinabandhu’s house after the murder.

“We have seized about 30 grams of melted ornaments from the goldsmith who had purchased from the couple. The goldsmith has identified the couple. I hope the accused couple would be dealt with harsh punishment,” said Sharma.

Notably, Dinabandhu, his wife Nirmala and daughters Pranati (11) and Saswati (4) were found in a pool of

blood in their house on September 22.
