Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested Assistant Revenue Inspector Nutan Kumar Naik of Pora Circle under Kantamal Tehsil in Boudh district for demanding and accepting bribe. Complainant Jayant Meher of Bandhanjhulli alleged that he and 21 others had applied to the Kantamal Tehsildar for allotment of Gharabari land under the Basundhara scheme. The Tehsildar directed the RI of Pora Circle for demarcation of the lands. later, the accused took the documents for preparing land demarcation report and asked Meher to bring Rs22,000, (Rs1,000 each) as bribe to submit the demarcation report. Naik was given Rs12,000. When he demanded rest Rs10,000, the complainant reported the matter to Vigilance. A trap was laid and Naik was caught red-handed.
