Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested Rayagada Assistant Fisheries Officer Prakash Rana for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 5,000 from lingaraj Panda of Saurasinghpur village under Padmapur police station to release balance amount of Rs 2 lakh towards pisciculture tank subsidy of his father. On the complaint of Panda, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught the officer red-handed while taking Rs 500 from the complainant in his office room.
Rana’s rented house at Rayagada was being searched, said an official release.
