While people of Kandalei village under Chhatabar gram anchayat on the city outskirts are spending days without electricity and basic amenities even a month after the Cyclones Fani struck them, the ASSRA, a New Delhi-based NGO, has come forward to extend help in the area.
The NGO has distributed napkins, candles, lighters, mosquito repellants, emergency lights and dresses among the villagers.
ASSRA Director Sushant Kumar Sahu, vice-presidents Subhajit Sahoo and Prasant Kumar Ghadai, social activists Priyabrata Panda, Tilochan Beura, Gopimohan Pattnaik and Pradip Ranjan Rout, school Headmaster Pabitra Mohan Nayak took part in the distribution of materials.
Chhatabar Sarapanch Tapasweeni Mishra Deng andvformer Sarpanch Bishnuprasad Deng expressed their gratitude to the ASSRA for the relief.
