The Association for Social Service and Rehabilitation of the Aged (ASSRA) State unit on Wednesday distributed biscuits and fruits to the aged patients undergoing treatment at the IDH ward at the Capital Hospital to mark the International Day for Elderly.
led by Gopimohan Patnaik of Assra, the activists shared some time with the elderly people at the hospital. Generally, destitute and rescued elderly people are admitted at the IDH ward for treatment. Dhauli Charukala College principal Panchnana Samal and social activist Kshetramohan Samal also participated in the initiative and opined that the elderly people are now being tortured mainly by their relatives particularly by their son and daughter-in-law.
