The State Assembly on Friday witnessed uproarious scenes for the third consecutive day over the alleged involvement of a Minister in the illegal construction of an apartment and the allotment of a number of plots and houses to the family members of a former Minister and a present Rajya Sabha member from the discretionary quota in violation of the rule.

Speaker Niranjan Pujari had to adjourn the House during the Zero Hour.BJP members rushed to the Well of the House and shouted slogan demanding a clarification from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the issues. The Speaker did not allow any discussion on the issues, stating that the matters had already been discussed in the House.

The trouble had begun after BJP member Rabi Narayan Nayak referred to media reports that Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma was involved in the illegal construction of an apartment in Bhubaneswar when he was a director of a real estate company prior to becoming a Minister. However, the Chief Minister is sitting silent over the issue.

Nayak said that since the Chief Minister was present in the House, he should make a statement to clarify the issue. Nayak pointed out that his party’s floor leader had already raised the issue earlier and urged the Speaker to direct the Chief Minister to give a clarification.
