The State Assembly on Wednesday passed the Registration (Odisha Amendment) Bill.

Under the provisions of the Bill, new rules will be applicable for registration of five categories (kissams) of land.

Henceforth, Patta will be a mandatory requirement during sale of land. The approval of all parties concerned, including contending parties, will also be needed to formalise the transfer of land.

The amendments proposed in the Bill are to ensure greater transparency in sale and purchase of land and to prevent fraud, Revenue Minister Surjya Narayan Patro said.
