The Fifth sitting (Winter Session) of the 15th Odisha legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Wednesday with eight working days left before its scheduled date.
The session, which started on December 1, was slated to continue till December 26.
The decision to adjourn the Assembly assumed political significance as it was taken at a time when Opposition Congress and BJP members were not attending House in protest against the weeklong suspension of Congress MlA Naba Kishore Das on charge of watching porn video in his mobile in the House on Monday.
The Opposition members had not been attending the proceedings since Tuesday noon demanding reconsideration of Das’s suspension and a proper inquiry into the allegation against him.
During the session, businesses were conducted for 13 working days only, during which minimum of four Bills were passed. The House passed District Planning Committee (Amendment) Bill-2015 on the last day in the absence of the Opposition members.
