Assault on tribal women: CRPF denies charges

The CRPF Odisha sector DIG (Administration) JPK Ray has refuted the charge levelled by the left parties that CRPF staff assaulted tribal women and looted their houses in the name of search operation in Madibadi hamlet under the M Rampur police station in Kalahandi district on December 17 last year.

Ray said the left parties presented the information to media without verifying it. “On the day of incident there was neither any deployment of CRPF in that area nor any operations conducted near and adjacent to incident place,” said Ray in a Press release issued to the Press on January 2. The DIG said the CRPF is strongly committed to protect human rights and dignity especially of the poor and under privileged with the ethos as peacekeepers of the nation. Publication of such allegations tarnishes the image of the organisation, he added.
