Assault on cop: FIR against Jayanarayan

Senior BJP leader and former Minister Jayanarayan Mishra again landed in a fresh controversy for misbehaving with police at Hirakud in Sambalpur district on Wednesday.

An FIR was lodged at the Hirakud police station against him. A case was registered on a complaint filed by Hirakud police station IIC Tophan Bag.

An altercation had erupted between Mishra and Bag when the latter tried to stop Mishra’s vehicle, which was following Union Minister Uma Bharti’s vehicle, from going to the Hirakud Dam. Mishra insisted on going in and allegedly pushed the IIC.

As the police did not allow his vehicle, Mishra came out of the vehicle and allegedly started scolding the police officer. Though others, including his party leader Sureh Pujari and Rudranarayan Pani, wanted to pacify Mishra, he did not relent.

“We stopped his vehicle on security ground as no vehicle would be allowed to enter the dam until a security check is done. But he used slangs and pushed me,” said IIC Bag.

The tussle between the two continued for sometime before Sambalpur SP Akhileswar Singh intervened in the matter and sorted out the issue.

Meanwhile, Mishra said he would too file a police complaint against the cops. “Don’t they (Burla) police know meIJ Am I a terroristIJ” retorted he.

last year, Mishra had also landed in trouble for pushing Sambalpur Additional Superintendent of Police Sushil Panigrahy during a Hanuman Jayanti procession.
