The BN Pur police on Friday arrested and court-forwarded Aska MP ladu Kishore Swain’s Purushottampur block representative Santosh Kumar Dash on the charges of beating a doctor and ransacking equipment at the MKCG Medical College Hospital premises.
According to local PS IIC Ajay Mishra, Dash had gone to the hospital with a snake-bitten five-year-old girl and her mother, a Panchayat Samiti member of Sama gram panchayat, at around 11 pm on Thursday. First, the girl was put in the Casualty Department and then shifted to the Paediatrics Department. Due to unavailability of a bed, the child had to sleep on the floor. Dash requested nurses to give a bed-sheet to the child. When the nurses said there was no bed-sheet available, Dash shouted at them. And when Dr Pradeep Kumar Mallick intervened, Dash slapped him. He too ransacked some equipment in the ward.
Dr Mallick along with other doctors and nurses of the Paediatric Department went to the BN Pur police at around 1 am and lodged a complaint in this regard and demanded immediate arrest of the MP’s representative.
“We have arrested and court-forwarded Santosh Das. He has been sent to jail custody after his bail application was rejected,” said the IIC.
