Former Puri SP Asish Singh took over as the new SP of Ganjam district at Chhatrapur on Saturday. Singh, who had already served as the SP of the district earlier, was transferred to Ganjam last week.
Addressing mediapersons here, Singh said the profile of the criminals in the district will be prepared and analysed soon. Besides, an action plan to track the criminals and criminal activities is underway to make the Ganjam police district crime-free.
Soon after assuming the office, Singh convened a meeting of the subordinate officers, including the Additional SP, SDPO, DSP and IICs of different police stations and instructed them to provide necessary inputs and track records of criminals and criminal activities. The criminal activities will be reviewed once in every week so that police would be able to know the antecedents of the criminals and their day-to- day activities, he said.
Singh also wanted to know the circumstances under which the criminals have not yet been booked and emphasised on collection of detailed information and whereabouts of such criminals. Special squads would be constituted to track them, he pointed out.
He also stressed on the need for tracking criminals involved in tender fixing and the increasing Maoist activities in the Ganjam-Kandhamal border.
