Vigilance officers on Saturday arrested three Government employees, including an ASI of Police, on charges of demanding and accepting bribes at different places. The officers arrested Ganjam district’s Tarasingh police station ASU V Rama Rao for taking bribe of Rs7,000 from Siba Nayak of Tuladi village to issue a compromise petition executed in between him and his brother and a station diary copy.
In his complaint, Nayak alleged that he along with his cousin Prasant Kumar Nayak had been to Tamilinadu for labour work. During their stay in Tamilinadu, some dispute relating to distribution of labour payment erupted between them. After their return, Prasant lodged a complaint at the Tarsingh PS. ASI V Rama Rao amicably settled the dispute but demanded the bribe to issue copies of compromise petition executed between Siba and Prasant.
Acting on Nayak’s complaint, the Vigilace sleuths laid a trap and held ASI Rama Rao raid-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
In another incident, Vigilance sleuths arrested Kosagumuda BEO office’s Junior Clerk Tapan Kumar Khosla and Miriganpada Primary School Headmaster Bijay Kumar Sahu for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs2,000 each from Sukanti Hial of Gotibeda village in Nabarangpur district to process her pension file.
The sleuths too laid a trap in this case and caught both Khosla and Sahu red-handed while taking bribe of Rs2,000 from the complainant.
The investigations were in progress in both the cases, informed an official release.
