Vigilance officers on Saturday arrested Kalahandi district’s Thuamul-Rampur PS ASI Sumeswar Bag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from Pabitra Nayak of Chandragiri Maligaon village under Rayagada district’s Kashipur PS to settle disputes among his family members.
According to Nayak, the ASI demanded the bribe amount to settle disputes among his family members over distribution of benefit received after death of his father due to lightning and to release his motorcycle.
Accordingly, Vigilance officers laid a trap and caught Bag whereas Home Guard Raghuram Nayak, who was also involved, absconded.
Bag’s residential house at Naktiguda, Bhawanipatna was under search.
