Sarat Kumar Sahu, ASI of the Kotpad police station in Koraput district, was arrested and forwarded to court when he was caught by the Vigilance police for demanding and accepting bribe on Friday.
Sahu had demanded the money from one Prasant Kumar Biswal of Belma Street under the Kotpad PS to send requisition to the Kotpad Tehsildar for demarcation of his land.
After Biswal informed the Vigilance, a trap was laid and Sahu was caught red-handed accepting the bribe money from Biswal. Later, during search of his barrack Rs 3.74 lakh was seized. He was arrested and forwarded to court. He was remanded to judicial custody after his bail plea was rejected.
