The Odisha Asha Karmee Association’s dharna here reached the second day on Sunday. Earlier, the association members led by CITU leaders had met the Health Minister on November 27 and submitted a memorandum to him regarding their demands.
The workers have been demanding a minimum pay of Rs 18,000 per month, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), pension and regularisation of jobs of the NHMs. But as the Minister has sought time to fulfil their demands of immediate salary hike, the Asha Workers are continuing their agitation, said association president Radharaman Sarangi.
The workers, who are not engaged in the rubella measles vaccination programme, joined their agitating counterparts during the protest on Sunday.
Association general secretary Nalini Sahoo said that on Monday, all the Asha Workers would join the stir.
