The Nikhila Odisha Asha Karmi Sangha has strongly opposed the State Government’s decision to abolish Asha Sathi posts and demanded withdrawal of the decision at the earliest.
In a statement, Sangha general secretary Namita Sahoo said that the Government had in 2013 created the posts of Asha Sathis and selected Asha Sathis from among the best performing Asha workers to work as mentor or peer leader in the National Health Mission (NHM).
“Is the decision a Dusshera gift for the Asha Sathi,” she wanted to know.
She threatened the Sangha would stage protest meetings before the NHM offices across the State if the abolishment decision is not withdrawn soon.
