A large number of members of the Shri Yoga Vedanta Seva Samiti (SYVSS) of Brahmapur on Friday went in a peaceful Satyagraha march from the Khallikote College-Town Hall road en route Subba Rao Square, Tata Benz Square and Kamapalli, Courtpeta road and staged protest in front of the RDC Office here against the arrest of their guru Asaram Bapu.
They submitted a memorandum to the RDC stating that there is a well-planned conspiracy by foreign forces to destroy the Indian culture by falsely implicating saints and religious gurus in India.
They demanded immediate release of Bapu from jail. Though nowhere in the FIR the victim girl has clearly mentioned about rape charge against Bapu, a section of the media are unnecessarily highlighting the issue to influence public opinion and the judiciary, the memorandum alleged.
When a friend of the victim asked her why she made false allegations against Bapuji, the victim reportedly replied that she has not done anything but her father
has brought all these allegations, the memorandum pointed out.
A copy of the memorandum was sent to the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court and the Rajasthan Government urging them to provide justice to the religious leader.
The memorandum also appealed to all the followers of Hindu culture, including saints, of the country to boycott the electronic media which are falsely propagating news against the Hindu culture and gurus.
The protest march was led by Samiti president RK Joshi, vice-president Bhagaban Choudhury and secretary Godavari Sahu.
