Arun Dey slams Govt role in Assembly

Veteran politician and Congress leader Arun Dey on Sunday lambasted the attitude and approach of the Government in the State Assembly during the last session.

He alleged that the conduct of the ruling party members was unprecedented as they stalled discussions in the House on the pretext of the Central Government’s neglect of the State on several issues.

“The BJD has 29 members in the Parliament. The issues pertain to the Central Government, and Parliament is the appropriate forum to raise these issues. But here in the Assembly the members of the Treasury Bench disrupted the business of the House on that pretext. This tactic was adopted by them in a deliberate attempt to avert a discussions on the chit fund scam,” Dey told reporters here.

He said that with the stalling of the Assembly, not only the time of the House but also the money of the taxpayers was wasted. The curtailment of the number of mandatory days for the Assembly sitting in a year was also not a healthy democratic sign, he said.

While many chit fund companies have looted crores of rupees of  innocent and poor people, in Baleswar a ponzi firm, Basil International, too siphoned crores of rupees of the investors through fake attractive schemes, importantly having patronage of MlAs here, Dey alleged. He demanded a CBI inquiry into the scam of this company.
