Veteran leader and former MlA Arun Dey has come down heavily on the Aahaar scheme, launched in the district two days ago. He alleged that the scheme is indirectly encouraging illegal activities by the scheme’s promoters.
In a Press meet here on Sunday, he stated that the scheme doesn’t fix any accountability regarding the source of money from the Government bodies and private institutions. He also alleged that the cheap meal would render the State work force lazy.
‘From where is the money comingIJ Vehicle operators, private truck owners, millers, suppliers, liquor traders and industries are providing monetary support to the meal scheme. Once money is taken from them for the purpose, their illegal work would be shielded. The district administration will hardly have any courage to take action against them, Day said, adding that there is no account of how many meals prepared, supplied and consumed.
‘When there is an acute shortage of drinking water, the Government’s priority should provide be water to the deficient areas instead of resorting to populous approach,’ he demanded.
