Art teachers' indefinite stir from Dec 3

Around 8,000 Art teachers working in various Upper Primary Schools in the State have threatened to resort to an indefinite agitation in front of the Assembly from December 3 to press their job regularisation demand.

The teachers took the decision to take to the street at the State-level meeting of the Odisha Kala ‘O’ Krida Siksyaka Mahasangha held on Tuesday.

“We have been working on contract basis and paid with a mere `2,400 per month. Instead of regularising our jobs and giving us salary as per the Central Government norm, the State Government is sitting idle on our issue,” said Mahasangha vice-president Pradip Kumar Das. He urged the Scholl and Mass Education department to take step in regularising their jobs at the earliest.
