Baripada EHT (Operation and Maintenance) Electrical DGM Jasobanta Narayan Choudhury, who was recently arrested in a graft case, was found to be a crorepati during Vigilance raids. After Choudhury was caught red-handed taking bribe of Rs 3,000 ffor passing a van-hire bill on October 25, Vigilance sleuths conducted raids on his office chamber at Baripada town, residential house at Prachi Vihar, Palasuni in Bhubaneswar and rented house at Raghunathpur, Baripada and detected the assets worth Rs 1,46,03,678 possessed by him and his family members.
The detected assets include a triple-storied building at GGP, Bhubaneswar of Rs 48,60, 000, a plot along Puri sea beach of Rs 38,000, deposits of Rs 83,26,014, hard cash of Rs 61,640, household articles of Rs 6,25,563, gold and silver ornaments of Rs 2,10,000 and a car and two motorcycles of Rs 4, 82, 458.
For possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by Choudhury, the Balasore Vigilance has registered a case against him
The case is under investigation, an official release said.
