Condemning the barbaric sexual assault against a Dalit women in front of her husband in Nandigaon under Dhusuri police station of Bhadrakh district, the State BJP on Saturday demanded the dismissal and arrest of local Inspector In Charge (IIC) of the police station for trying to suppress the case and refusing to register an FIR against six persons including BJD chairman of Dhamnagar block, who were allegedly involved in the crime.

The party also demanded arrest of the mastermind of the case Asok Nayak, who is Chairman of the Dhamnagar Block as well as BJD Block president.

Addressing a Press conference at the State party office here in presence of the victim couple, BJP Mahila Morcha chairperson Simantini Jena and former MlA Chandbali Bishnu Sethi alleged that the incident occurred on the night of December 7 last. Though the victim couple filed an FIR against the accused, the IIC, Dhusuri refused to accept the FIR. On the other hand, at the instance of Dhamnagar Block Chairman Nayak, the IIC arrested husband of the victim Bhagirathi Gochhayat by registering a false case.

However, when Bhadrak SP intervened in the case, a case was registered on December 11 last under various Sections of IPC and Atrocity against women under SC and ST Act. The victim couple had met the SP and described their suffering, the BJP leaders said.

They continued that since Gochhayat was a RTI activist and had been continuously exposing the misdeeds and corruption of the Chairman of the Dhamnagar Block for the last two years, the latter took revenge on him and his wife.

The victim of sexual assault who was also present at the press conference shared her horrible account to the media persons.

She said that while she and her husband were sleeping in their house on December 7 night, Block Chairman Nayak along with around five of his accomplices, Purna Chandra Sahu, OSAP constable Babulal Sahu, Sarat Sutar, Upendra Behera  and Biswabhushan Sahu  entered into their house by breaking open the door.

They assaulted her husband physically and used filthy languages before committing sexual assault on her in presence of her husband. After committing the crime, they also looted her gold ornaments and `10, 000 cash, she said.
