The Samruddha Odisha party on Thursday demanded arrest of political leaders involved in several chit fund scams in the State.
The party said the chit fund companies swindled lakhs of investors of the State and it is more shocking that some political leaders helped the fraudulent companies spread their businesses.
It is even more shocking that ruling BJD MlAs and a Minister have taken crores of rupees from several chit fund firms like the Saradha Group and the Artha Tatwa Group, the party in its statement said.
According to party general secretary Prabir Mohanty, the State Government decided to control the credit cooperative societies to check the fraud but didn’t take any steps against the political leaders involved in the scams.
“We demand immediate arrest of the political leaders involved in the scams. The police and Vigilance must take adequate steps in time and must not show sympathy towards the politicians,” demanded Mohanty.
