A group of retired defence officers of Sambalpur has demanded before the VIMSAR authorities to blacklist the Executive Security Agency deployed in VIMSAR Burla that was using the uniform alike Army.
Uniform apart, the security agency is involved in a lot of illegal activities in VIMSAR and Burla township, alleged the ex-Army officers.
Led by Col. Pravat Kumar Panda, the ex-army personnel went in a vast procession from Burla police station to the camp office of the security agency inside the hospital campus to ask them the reason behind using Army like uniform where they had a hot exchange of words.
The demonstrators warned them not to use the uniform of Army saying that the security staffs were not worth wearing them. They removed the stars from the dress of the security personnel and dragged them to the office of Medical Superintendent Dr LM Nayak. The Medical Superintendent also asked them not to use uniforms having similarity with Army uniforms.
“We have sacrificed a lot for the country under many difficult situations. Our uniform is our pride. But these people in the security agency who are involved in many nefarious activities are wearing uniforms similar to Army,” lamented Col Panda. He alleged that the security agency deployed had a bad reputation and instances of many illegal activities including atrocity to women security guards were against it.
“Hence, the police and local administration need to take stringent action against it,” he demanded.
When contacted, Superintendent of VIMSAR Dr Nayak said that such a sensitive issue was not under his knowledge. “But after knowing it, we asked the security agency to change the dress pattern and they also obliged instantly,” he clarified.
