Voluntarily-retired Odisha-cadre IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at its national head office in New Delhi on November 27.
According to sources, Sarangi would join the saffron party in the presence of its national president Amit Shah, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and many other senior leaders.
Sarangi would visit the BJP State head office here on December 1. She would be given a grand welcome by BJP members in the city, sources said.
Though she is likely to fight the upcoming general elections, it is not yet known whether she would fight for a Lok Sabha or an Assembly seat in Odisha or Bihar.
Notably, Sarangi took superannuation under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) after due approval from the State Government and the Union Government recently.
Sarangi has proved to be a good administrator by serving as Secretary of different departments in the State. She had adopted dress code for teachers and students in schools during her period as Secretary of the School and Higher Education Department.
Aparajita Sarangi, who is from Bihar, is married to her IAS batch-mate and Odisha-cadre officer Santosh Sarangi of Odisha, who is now posted in New Delhi on a Central deputation.
