Aparajita slams CM for BJD workers’ attack on her

Bhubaneswar BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi on Monday lambasted the State Government for allegedly using Mission Shakti members to attack her. She questioned if Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would stop behaving like the Dhritarashtra of the Mahabharata and carry out his Rajdharma to punish the attackers.

Sarangi targeted the Chief Minister over the incident of the BJD workers protesting her in her constituency. She took to her Twitter handle and informed the CM about the situation. To substantiate her claims, she also posted some photographs of women carrying stones, eggs and black flags.

“In the name of women empowerment, the State Government has been using Mission Shakti women to attack me, a woman MP duly elected and blessed by the people. Will Hon’ble CM Odisha stop being Dhritrashtra & carry out his ‘Rajdharma,” read her Tweet.

Notably, on Sunday, Sarangi was on her way to the Jayadev Assembly constituency to attend an event at Athantara panchayat when some Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers allegedly opposed her. She declared that she was not safe in her constituency.

“If any disturbance is staged in a pre-planned manner at my meeting place, the State Government will be held responsible for that and I will stage a dharna then and there. If the past incidents are taken into consideration, I can say I am not safe in my constituency,” Sarangi said.

BJP leader Samir Mohanty said, “If the government fails to provide security to a woman MP, then it raises a big question mark on the governance of the State. This is a matter of concern. Besides ensuring the safety of the MP, the Chief Minister should cooperate in the development of the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency,” said Mohanty.

There was no reaction from the BJD leaders on Sarangi’s observation on the Chief Minister.
