Aparajita heads for Delhi

A standout bureaucrat of the State, Aparajita Sarangi, has sought Central posting, obviously being saddened by her recent postings in the State administration. She applied for a posting in New Delhi on Monday.

If and when she gets a berth in the Union Government, Sarangi, a 1994-batch, Odisha-cadre IAS officer, would be posted in the rank of a Joint Secretary as per a recent decision of the Union Department of Personnel and Training on her ranking.

Sarangi, who first earned laurels for her outstanding performances as the Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), was subsequently shifted as the Secretary of Panchayati Raj Department.

But even as she was doing a job in this department and winning public appreciations by touring across the State to review departmental functioning, she was suddenly transferred as the Secretary of Textiles and Handlooms Department, an area of lesser activities.

Her husband Santosh Sarangi, also a 1994-batch, Odisha-cadre IAS officer, is also likely to make a move to the Centre next month.
