Anti-Tata fast-unto-death reaches its tenth day

A dharna against Tata Steel by the Marthapur villagers near Kalinganagar industrial complex here has reached its 10th day. It is led by one Satyabrata Prusty, who is on a fast-unto-death since August 31, opposing the hooliganism of the contractor employed by the Tata Company constructing a water sourcing project in the village.

They villagers have been demanding removal of Tata contractor MAA Enterprises, which is creating continuous trouble in the village with help of anti-socials.

“While people are demanding that the social benefits of the project be executed transparently through the Palli Sabha with no involvement of profit-seeking outside agencies, the local politicians, contractors and a few misguided villagers are suppressing the voice and real concerns of the villagers and maintaining their hegemony for vested interest,” said Prusty, who is an IIT alumnus and a close follower of Anna Hazare.
