leaders of different political parties, including the Congress, CPI, CPI(M) and Samajwadi Party, Odisha Jan Adihikar Manch and lok Shakti Abhiyan along with anti-displacement bodies under the banner of the Posco Pratirodh Samnaya Samiti (PPSS) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan and urged the Governor to direct the State administration to stop ‘forcible’ land acquisition at the Posco project site near Paradip.
While demanding withdrawal of police force from the Dhinkia area, the protestors urged the Government to cancel its pact with the Posco.
“It is a matter of surprise that in a democratic country the State Government is acquiring land by using police force. We demand immediate withdrawal of the force and stopping of land acquisition,” said SP State president Rabi Behera.
Many social activists, members of civil societies and intellectuals participated in the demonstration and appealed to the Governor to intervene in the matter.
