The Mada Mukti Yuva Bahini (MMYB) organised a bike rally here on Sunday demanding total prohibition in the State. It gave a memorandum to Excise Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera demanding that an announcement for an anti-liquor law be made before the election code of conduct comes into effect, failing which the MMYB would campaign against the Minister in his constituency if he contests in the ensuing elections.
The MMYB held the rally to mark its first anniversary with participation of its volunteers from across the State.
Speaking on the occasion, MMYB convener Satyabrata Prusty said liquor is destroying thousands of families. The Government’s claim that it gets revenue from liquor sale is absolutely fallacious. Rather, it is losing revenue manifold.
He further said, “A welfare Government must not resort to revenue of liquor to run administration.”
Among others present on the occasion were Tarakant Nayak, Bipin Kumar Routray, Lalatendu Patra, Priti Nayak, Rajesh Deo, Saumya Ranjan Mohanty, Akshaya Routray, Samash Sarangi, Abhijit Patra, Malay Tripathy, Kanhu Charan Behura and members of the Milita Odisha Nisha Nibarana Abhiyan (MONNA).
