Kandhamal CDMO Dr Rajyashree Pattnaik said in a Press meet that the district health administration would launch a massive drive from February 25 to eradicate filaria. As part of the programme, awareness would be created among the masses and tablets would be distributed.
The filaria tablets can be taken by all except pregnant women, child below 2 years and ill persons. The DEC and Albendazol tablets are to be distributed by the ASHAs and trend volunteers free of cost, said Dr Prabhakar Sahu.
The CDMO said that samples were collected randomly from eight villages of eight blocks in the district and out of 4,193 samples, 14 were found to be filaria positive.
She urged the people to take the tablets which have no side effects without any fear.
