Following the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” of the World Environment Day this year, the Chilika Development Authority (CDA), which is in charge of Ansupa lake development, performed several activities to mark the event and vowed to make the sweet water lake polythene-free.
In the morning on Tuesday, the CDA authorities led by its Chief Executive Officer Fanindra Bhusan Nanda planted saplings in the eco-garden. An awareness based rally near the villages of Ansupa was held while a cleaning programme was undertaken. Besides, a quiz competition among the school students was organised.
“Grow with Nature”, a Bhubaneswar-based NGO, also participated in the programme and its research faculty Gayatri Devi demonstrated a programme on solid waste management and reuse of polythene.
