Ansupa bamboo cottages unveiled

Published on:

Three bamboo cottages at Ansupa lake developed by Native Konbac of Maharashtra were inaugurated by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest PN Padhi, Regional Conservator of Forest, Angul Circle, Pandav Behera and Athagarh DFO Arun Mishra jointly on Saturday here.

There has been an allegation of corruption in the high cost budget project, which is worth `30 lakh. The bamboos and other materials used in the cottages have been brought from outside the State and the designers are also from Maharashtra. Every year, crores of rupees are being sanctioned for the development of Ansupa by both the State and Union Governments, but the lake has failed to get the desired facelift as a major portion of the funds was embezzled by the leaders and bureaucrats, the locals alleged.

However, Ansupa still remains the best tourism spot and its development can attract the tourists, giving a boost to revenue generation for the State. Meanwhile, the intelligentsia demanded proper utilisation of the funds for the development of the Ansupa project.
