Ansuman Das, who was holding the additional charge of the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Navratna PSU National Aluminium Company limited (Nalco), has now taken over as the full-time CMD of the company as per a Government of India order on Friday.
Das graduated in Mechanical Engineering from REC, Rourkela (now National Institute of Technology) in 1976 and did his MBA from the University of Hull, UK with a British Council scholarship under the Colombo Plan. He started his career with the Hindustan Aeronautics ltd and joined the Nalco in 1982 in its formative years as Senior Engineer in Project and Technical Services.
Subsequently, he rose to the level of General Manager (Marketing) and was instrumental in formation of various marketing policies and strategies both for domestic and overseas sales and launching almost all the value-added products.
Das was head of the Materials Department for a brief period before taking over as Director (Commercial) in 2009. He also held the additional charge of Director (Human Resources) for a brief period in 2012. He now holds the additional charge of Director (Finance).
Das had been given the additional charge of CMD in August 2012. With his taking over as the full-time CMD, the Nalco’s various expansion programmes are expected to get further boost.
