Taking advantage of the poor security measures in the Nayagarh Sub-Jail, an under-trial prisoner (UTP) escaped on Sunday, just couple of days after a rape accused gave the Khandapada Sub-Jail officials a slip in the district.
The fugitive was identified as Himansu Nayak. He was lodged in the Nayagarh Sub-Jail after he was arrested in connection with a dacoity case three days ago.
Sources said the accused managed to flee from the prison between 9.30 am and 11.30 am on Sunday. Later, a case was lodged by Jailer Umesh Prasad Balabantray at the Nayagarh Sadar police station regarding the incident.
The escape of two prisoners in just two days from the jails has raised many questions on the security measures in jails of the district.
