To fight for rights of elementary teachers, another teachers’ body named Odisha Elementary School Teachers’ Association (OESTA) was formed here on Saturday.
Teachers from various districts formed the OESTA at a meeting held under chairmanship of Pramod Kumar Bhanj here. They unanimously selected Yudhisthir Sahoo as OESTA president, Arata Bhanjan Sahoo as general secretary and Jeet Ranjan Mohapatra as secretary general.
The OEAST would spearhead a fight to resolve various problems of teachers for which the State Government has remained apathetic for years.
Similarly, teacher leaders like Bhagirath Pradhan, Shivsankar Jena, Naresh Chandra Sahoo, Jyotiprakash Sahoo and Jyotiprakash Agasti were selected as working president, Surjanarayan Nayak, laxminarayan Das, Bidhanchandra Rout and Rajesh Kumar Choudhury as secretaries, Udaya Narayan Patra and Maniketan Dang as organising secretary, Jyotiranjan Das as chief coordinator, Anath Behera as State media coordinator, laxmidhar Prusty as treasurer and Dr Jyotirekha Mohanty, Ashutosh Patra, lingaraj Behera, Manoranjan Dhal and Prasant Kumar Jena as vice-presidents, among functionaries.
