The Commissionerate Police on Monday busted a sex racket in the city and arrested seven persons, including three women, for their involvement in flesh trade. A police team under the leadership of Sahid Nagar police station IIC conducted raid on some slums beside the NH-5 on the opposite side of Satsang Vihar and rescued four young girls engaged in prostitution after apprehending seven persons involved in the racket.
Out of the seven arrested persons, the police team arrested four customers and three pimps. The customers were identified as Sarat Kumar Majhi (24) of Tampal under the Nimapada police limits in Puri district, Abhimanyu Pradhan (28) of Marichapalli under the Rajnagar police station in Kendrapada district, Sankar Nag (23) of Rajkharial under the Kharial police limits Nuapada district and Srinibas Mahakud (37) of Bhagabati Prasad under the Odagoan police limits in Nayagarh district.
Three pimps, who were running brothels and facilitating the customers by utilising young girls of different areas of the State for immoral sex purposes, were identified as Sasmita Parida (30) of Katikata under the Jajpur Town police station in Jajpur district, Anjana Behera (38) of Sanagaon under the Marsaghai police limits in Kendrapada district and Anu Bibi (40) of Dasarathapur under the Mangalpur police limits in Jajpur district. All the accused persons along with the rescued girls were sent for medical examination.
