Another schoolgirl impregnated in M’bhanj

Yet again, a Class-IX girl student of a residential school under the Udala police station in Mayurbhanj district was found pregnant on Saturday.

The matter came to light after the headmaster of the school filed a written complaint at the Udala police station.

“Usually I don’t visit the hostel as I am not in-charge of it. I had asked an ANM to visit the hostel. The minor girl’s pregnancy was detected after the ANM examined her,” said the headmaster.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter.

Sources said medical examination of the girl was carried out at the Ragunath Murmu Medical College Hospital here. However, it is still uncertain how and under what circumstances the girl was impregnated.

“The headmaster of the school has filed a complaint in connection with the pregnancy of the minor girl. A case has been registered and probe is underway,” said a police official.

A couple of days ago, a Class-VI girl of a residential school in Mayurbhanj was found pregnant after she was admitted to a hospital. Police had detained one of her boy classmates on the charge of raping her.
