Joint anti-Naxal operation ‘HOT’ launched by Ganjam DVF, SOG, CRPF 127 Battalion and Gajapati police in the triangular areas of Badagada , Sheragada and Mohana since last Thursday under the supervision of Ganjam SP Ashish Singh nabbed a hardcore Maoist cadre of the Odisha Maobadi Party led by Sabyasachi Panda and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
The arrested ultra is Kandra Dalabehera of Patachanchara village under Badagada Police Station.
Dalabehera showed police the Maoist camp of Panda near Rechagurha dense forest. However, when the police raided the camp, taking the advantages of rock sheets, dense Sal trees and bamboo bushes, Panda and his associates managed to flee. Police destroyed the Maoist camp completely and recovered one SlR, one 303 Rifle, five SBMl guns, bullets, magazines, walkie-talkie chargers, spare battery for VHF, olive green uniform, utensils, rations, rubber stamps, maps, literature and flexible wire, among others.
It may be recalled that two Maoists Bubu Mohapatra of Nayagarh and Agni Palia of Boudh, who had been working with Sabyasachi Panda for a long time, were arrested near the Badagada bus-stand on last Sunday. The police had seized a bag packed with medicines which was being transported to Panda.
Bubu had admitted to have accepted the bags from Sabyasachi Panda’s wife Mili Panda, which raised eyebrows about Mili’s active involvement with her husband’s Maoist outfit. On the other hand, Mili had denied any Maoist link alleging that the police conspired against her again to send her to jail.
