In yet another shocking incident in Brahmapur, a group of four unidentified miscreants came by two motorbikes and looted Rs 1.5 lakh from a grocery shop at Marthapetta Street under the Bada Bazar police station at 10 pm on Saturday.

The miscreants forcibly entered in the shop, terrorised its owner Kamal Patra and his employees and demanded the cash box. When the employees protested, the miscreants threatened to hurl bombs at them and brandished a pistol and sharp weapons. Being scared, the employees remained quiet. Taking advantage of the situation, the miscreants looted the money from the cash box.

Being informed, SDPO Thakur Prasad Patra and Bada Bazar police station IIC Anil Mohanty reached the spot and started investigation. Hundreds of businessmen of the locality have lodged their complaints in the police station protesting the incident. The culprits would be nabbed soon, said the SDPO.

It may be recalled that on June 12 three criminals had also looted cash and a golden chain from a shop owner in the city at gunpoint. Similarly, on June 8, three unidentified miscreants coming by a motorbike had attacked a resident of Pandav Nagar with sharp weapons near Menu Chhak under the Bada Bazar police station and managed to escape.

Just one day before this incident, miscreants had hurled bombs in Harijan Street main road near the Rajiv Gandhi Kalyan Mandap in the            Gosaninuagam area. On May 15, miscreants had murdered a woman security guard at Engineering School road.
