Police on Saturday registered another land-grab case against arrested former Sanakhemundi Congress MlA Ramesh Jena. The case was registered against Jena, his father Arakhita Jena and Congress Corporator R Murali Mohan at the Bada Bazar police station.
On Wednesday, the police had arrested Mohan, a close aide of Jena, in connection with a land-grab case. He has allegedly grabbed prime residential land at Gandhinagar from an individual by threatening him, police said.
The ex-MlA’s father and two builders Bighnesh Sahu and Krushna Chandra Sahani are also allegedly involved in it. While Jena, his father and Sahu have been arrested, Sahani is on the run.
“The accused were arrested based on the complaints of Amarendra Patra, the land owner, and after thorough investigation,” said Brahmapur SP Sarthak Sarangi.
Investigating officials said they have so far seized over 100 land documents from the houses of Jena here and at Gambhariguda.
Police said Jena might be supplying firearms to the arrested dreaded gangster Dhalsamant brothers through his aide Sushant Behera. The Brahmapur police on Saturday took Behera the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar on a two-day remand for further interrogation.
Notably, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Commissionerate Police had arrested Santosh along with three other persons from Naharkanta on the outskirts of the capital city on charges of dacoity.
