Yet another case of child branding has been reported in the State with an 8-month-old boy being admitted to a hospital here on Saturday night after his condition turned critical due to branding with a hot iron object to cure him of his ailment.
According to reports, the infant Pritam Singh suffered abdominal pain and bloating, for which his family members allegedly branded him with hot iron at 10 places on his body. The incident took place at Renjeda village under the K Balang police station here a few days ago.
The hospital authorities informed the local police about the incident. The police have swung into action and initiated a probe. It may be recalled that a month-old baby had died last month at the Rupatola slum here also being a victim of such superstition.
