Yet another debt-ridden farmer of the State committed suicide by consuming poison, a report said on Tuesday.
The deceased farmer was identified as Bhajahari Madhei of Kolimati village near Anandpur in Keonjhar district.
As per the report, Bhajahari consumed pesticide on Monday after which he was rushed to Sub-Divisional Hospital in Anandpur. However, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors.
Bhajari was under stress for loan burden of around Rs1.5 lakh. He had reportedly availed loans for meeting the treatment expenses last year. Besides, he had also taken Rs12, 000 from local moneylenders for agricultural purpose. When he realised that he has remote chances of repaying the loans as his crops had been destroyed due to scanty rainfall, the farmer committed suicide, family sources said.
