A day after arresting one of the directors of AT Group, Srikrishna Padhi, the Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested another director, Manoj Patnaik, in connection with the chi fund fraud. Both Srikrishna and Manoj were forwarded to court.
According to the police, Maonj was in charge of company’s finance and accounts section, besides supervising its gold loan practice. With the arrest of Manoj, the number of arrested persons of AT Group rose to four.
Earlier, the police had arrested company CMD Pradip Sethi and director-cum-film producer Jagabandhu Panda.“Since Manoj being one of the directors of the company was supervising the accounts and gold loan issues, we will try to find out whether he was responsible for making any illegal decision in the company,” said a senior police official.
In yet another incident, hundreds of depositors of Astha International chit fund company gheraoed its head office at Bapujinagar here demanding refund of their money and arrest of its chief manager Subhransu lenk, national president SS Kisan and director Chandresh Chouhan. The depositors alleged that the company has duped them of Rs 500 crore across the State.
