Anna Brigade holds dharna against Southco

Published on:

Members of the Anna Brigade led by its State coordinator Srikant Padhi held a two-day token dharna in front of Southco office here, protesting against the anti-consumer policy and unscheduled power cut in the city.

The power distribution company Southco, instead of focusing on the development of infrastructure and uninterrupted supply of power to the consumers, is concentrating more on collection of dues and its commercialisation, Padhi alleged. He urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make his stand clear on Southco during his visit to Brahmapur on February 20.

The Anna brigade submitted their 12-point charter of demands to newly appointed Southco MD BB Sharma and a copy of the same was also handed over to the RDC (SD).  Sharma reportedly assured to look into the matter within fifteen days.

The agitators warned that in case no action is taken to resolve the issues within the stipulated time, they would file criminal case against Ambani's Reliance, besides against Southco.

Among others, Suvendu Kumar Padhi, Raghunath Gouda, Sitaram Padhi, Jagannath Bisoyi, Pravat Kiran Sadangi, Hadubandhu Nayak, Manoj Panigrahi, Ajay Nayak and Bhakta Baschal Pattnaik were present.
