ANM staff demand regularisation of jobs

The Odisha Multipurpose Female Health Workers’ Association, which has been holding an indefinite strike  from January 27 at the lower PMG here, on Sunday alleged that though they have been working for more than 13 years under the National Health Mission (NHM) for the State Health and Family Welfare Department, the State Government is not fulfiling their demands.

Association general secretary Mamata Nayak said they have been working since 2005, but the State Government has taken no steps to meet their longstanding demands of regularisation of jobs and same pay for same work.

Nayak further said the NHM and ANM of the departments are getting four times their salary though they are doing the same job.

She said that due to the meagre salary they are facing financial hardship and facing a bleak future in their service period.
