Hundreds of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers staged a demonstration in front of the Subarnapur Collectorate here on Friday to press for fulfilment of their various demands.
After the demonstration, many of the agitators managed to enter into the Collector’s chamber shouting various slogans. They submitted an 11-point charter of demands, addressed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, before Collector Dasirathi Satpathy.
Their demanded a monthly remuneration of Rs 18,000 for Workers, Rs 9,000 for Helpers and recognition of Mini Anganwadi Workers as Anganwadi Workers.
The local BJP provided support to the agitators. Among others, Anganwadi Association district president Puspanjali Dash, secretary Pabitri Bagh, Anupama Mishra, Aarti Meher, Gitanjali Pujahari, Mamata Panda were present.
