A Cashier reportedly working in the Andhra Bank’s Mundamarai branch in Aska of Ganjam district was beaten to death on Tuesday for his involvement in an illicit relationship with a minor girl of the area.
The deceased identified as Binayak Behera, is a resident of Chhatrapur in the district.
Sources said the Aska police recovered the body of Behera lying in a pool of blood besides the hills adjoining Mundamarai College.
Sources revealed that Behera was a former Defence personnel and working as a Cashier at the Andhra Bank for the past three years. He was reportedly in a relationship with a girl of Mundamarai studying in Class 10, since a long time, sources added.
Though initial reports claimed that Binayak‘s murder could be a fallout of this relationship, police have initiated an investigation to find out the actual motive behind the incident.
“Aska SDPO Suryamani Pradhan said “An investigation is on. We are interrogating his family members, locals as well as the girl with whom he was in a relationship. Based on the facts and evidences we derive from the postmortem reports, action would be taken.”
